Biography

Unlike most other Indigenous Owned Environmental Consulting companies, Bird Environmental Consulting Ltd. is 100% owned by one of the top Indigenous Biologists in North America – Dr. Krista (Krissy) Bird. She has over 20 years of experience working on environmental projects. She has pioneered research into non-invasive DNA extraction techniques, large-scale wildlife genetics research, and grouse research across North America, as well as having worked in environmental consulting for almost 15 years. She completed her Ph.D. in 2009, her Post-Doc in 2010, and has been in environmental consulting since 2011. Dr. Bird has worked on everything from very small to large projects in transportation, renewable energy, mining, and oil and gas and has overseen all forms of environmental regulatory approvals and permitting in her various roles.
