We hope you’re enjoying the summer and finding time to recharge with family, friends and Community.
While many people are taking well-earned breaks, there’s plenty happening at Aksis. We’re looking ahead to a busy fall with networking opportunities, our annual Golf Tournament, new learning opportunities and exciting partnerships that continue to support Indigenous businesses and professionals.
This month, we’re inviting our community to join a conversation. Over the coming weeks, watch our social media channels as we ask a simple question: Who is your favourite Indigenous business or entrepreneur, and why?
Your responses will help spark an important discussion about Urban Indigenous Data Sovereignty and how Indigenous economic development can shape the stories, relationships, and data compilation that matter most to us. We’re looking forward to hearing your perspectives. We also invite you to share your answer right now by sending an email directly to ed@aksisyeg.ca using the subject line Favorite Indigenous Business/Entrepreneur.“
As always, thank you for being part of the Aksis community. We hope to connect with many of you this summer.
Upcoming Events

Business gets done where relationships are built.
That’s why hundreds of Indigenous entrepreneurs, professionals and partners gather each September for the Aksis Golf Tournament. It’s more than a day on the course—it’s where new conversations begin, partnerships take shape and our networks and community grows – long after the tournament ends.
Thanks to TELUS for returning as our Title Sponsor and to the many sponsors and teams already joining us this September.
There are still a few opportunities to be part of this year’s tournament, including Lunch Sponsor and Hole Sponsor packages. If your organization is looking to build authentic relationships with the Indigenous business community while supporting Indigenous economic growth, we’d love to welcome you.

Member Spotlight: Askiy Mat Service wins Emerald Award!

Every month, we want to shine a light on the incredible work happening across the Aksis community.
This month, we’re celebrating Askiy Mat Service Inc., a First Nation-owned business led by Aksis member Sandy Sanderson, for receiving an Emerald Award for Environmental Excellence in Emissions Reduction.
The award recognizes the company’s innovative approach to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water use through technology that helps industrial clients improve their environmental performance while supporting sustainable operations.
It’s a great example of Indigenous innovation in action and of how Indigenous businesses continue to lead with values, creativity and a commitment to future generations.
Congratulations to Sandy and the entire Askiy Mat Service team on this incredible recognition and achievement!
